ALIFE XI Arrival and Check-in Information

Check-in for Residential Delegates

Upon arrival, delegates with accommodation on King Alfred's campus (Beech Glade, or Alwyn Hall) should collect their keys from the Main Reception on King Alfred's campus (Entrance B on the King Alfred's campus map).

Those delegates with accommodation on West Downs Campus (West Downs Centre or West Downs Houses) should collect their keys from the Foyer of the West Downs Centre (shown on the West Downs Campus map).

If you are likely to arrive after 8pm, keys should be collected from the site steward's office on the West Downs campus.

All bedrooms are either standard or en-suite, and all rooms have bed linen, a medium sized towel and small toiletry pack. Tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge/microwave are available in all of the shared kitchen areas located in all the accommodation.

Conference Registration

For those arriving on Monday afternoon, conference registration will be available from 3.30pm until 8pm in the West Downs Centre Foyer, on the West Downs Campus. Conference registration will also be available the following morning from 8am at the main registration desk in the Stripe building on the King Alfred's Campus.

Welcome Barbeque

Monday's Welcome Barbeque will run from 5.30pm and will take place on West Downs Campus. In order to join other delegates for the barbeque, please ensure that you arrive by 6pm.

Both the West Downs campus and King Alfred's campus are approximately 15 minutes walk from the train station and approximately 25 minutes walk from where National Express coaches from Heathrow will stop (please note that the walk is uphill at least part of the way!), or a taxi is approximately £4.00-6.00.

Stagecoach Bus numbers 4 (towards Teg Down; timetable (PDF)) and 5 (towards Badger Farm; timetable (PDF)) both run from the bus and train stations and drop off outside the West Downs Campus: you need the County Hospital or the Queens Road stops on both those services. King Alfred Campus is a few minutes walk from these stops. Alternatively, Stagecoach Bus number 2 (towards Badger Farm; timetable (PDF)) runs (less frequently) directly past the King Alfred Campus. A map of Winchester bus routes can be obtained here. Winchester bus station is on The Broadway, across the road from where National Express coaches from Heathrow will stop.

If you are travelling by car, parking is available on both the West Downs and King Alfred Campus - please collect a permit from the registration desk.

Please ensure you have advised us of any mobility or dietary requirements for attending this conference.

Maps are available here, including a general overview (PDF) showing the respective locations of the King Alfred Campus (PDF) (where the Stripe Theatre is located) and the West Downs Campus (PDF) (where the conference accommodation is located).

There is also a Google map here (the Stripe Theatre is a blue flag; the conference accommodation is a red bed).
